Due to a recent partnership between DepEd and Artkipelago, USEC. Tonisito Umali continues to promote Artkelago’s programs to all regional directors, superintendents, and special program in the arts (SPA) teachers.
November 24 to November 26, 2021 — The 2021 Sining Pangkabuhayan para sa Kabataan (SPK) was virtually performed by the Department of Education (DepEd) in collaboration with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA). The SPK 2021 highlighted skills, talents, arts and crafts, as well as programs for students and teachers to improve arts and culture.
The said event showcased exhibits from different regional schools in the Philippines, simultaneous workshops, speeches from inspirational speakers, as well as an awarding ceremony.
One of the highlights of the event was the "Music Business 101" class, led by Ms. Twinky Lagdameo, President and Founder of Artkipelago. And in addition to her repertoire, she along with Philippine National Artist for Music Ryan Cayabyab and businessman Julio D. Sy, Jr., co-founded the famous Elements Music Camp. She is also a member of the Creative Industries Philippines, which represents the music business, as a co-founder. Twinky, who has always been an advocate for artists, is dedicated to the development and discovery of new talent and music. This was just one of the courses held during the 2021 SPK. The class was centered on the music industry, its processes, and its significance in the creative industry.
According to Artkipelago, one of their main goals is to strengthen the Philippine creative economy by having opportunities be made available to all aspiring artists and creatives, regardless of their location or financial resources. They especially want the younger generation to be able to explore and perfect their creative gifts. And with the cooperation of the Deped, the students would hopefully perceive these avenues as a great path to a professional future.
